Man Runs Car Into School Children. Attempted To Enter School With Bomb.

3 kids struck by car near OC elementary school; incendiary device found inside suspect’s car: police

Police say a car drove onto a sidewalk and struck several children, who were taken to the hospital.

Investigators say 26-year-old Jason Guzman trespassed into Taft Elementary School and was escorted off campus before he allegedly ran down three children on the sidewalk. He was arrested moments later after stabbing himself in the stomach.

A resident said she heard a loud crash, and neighbors were shocked to see a large knife in the suspect’s car. The suspect was taken to a hospital with a self-inflicted knife wound.

Santa Ana police discovered a suspicious incendiary device in a suspect’s car and called the bomb squad. The school was on lockdown for three hours as they worked to clear the campus and ensure no devices were left behind.

Luckily there were no threats on campus, and the three kids that were later struck by Guzman’s car are expected to make full recoveries.

Staff at the school has complained to administrators in the past about a lack of a secure process for allowing visitors onto the Taft Elementary campus.

In this case, the school staff did determine that Guzman seemed under the influence or something and perhaps not all there. Shortly after, a theory confirmed when he struck the kids and stabbed himself in his car.

Following the deadly attack on Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut in December of 2012, many schools, including elementary, put in security measures and hired resource officers to help deter crazy people who might seek to commit a violent act.

In investigations into Buffalo mass shooter Peyton Gendron, it was determined that he considered attacking elementary schools, churches, and other community gathering places before he carried out his disgusting attack on a grocery store.

Fighting Inflation with price controls. It’s Genius!

Article by Simon Black of Sovereign Man (republished with permission) May 18, 2022 One of the most repeated lessons we see over and over again throughout human history is that bumbling politicians almost invariably try to ‘fix’ inflation with price controls. Emperor Diocletian famously imposed strict price controls across the Roman Empire in 301 AD to fight off inflation that had resulted from a massive debasement of the Roman currency. Naturally, Diocletian’s price controls weren’t …

Poland Encourages No Concessions Or A Cease-Fire With Russia.

Poland’s President Addresses Ukraine’s Parliament, Calls for Removal of All Russian Troops – The Wall Street Journal

Andrzej Duda pushed back against “worrying voices” that Ukraine should concede territories in order to end the war. Instead saying that all Russian troops should withdraw from Ukraine unconditionally. Poland has the most direct burden of refugees with millions displaced from Ukraine.

Ukraine’s presidential adviser and president’s chief of staff argued that a ceasefire would embolden Russia. Ukraine will not agree to a ceasefire or territory concessions to Russia, as this would embolden the latter to ramp up its attacks.

Russia launched a major offensive in eastern Ukraine last month. Both sides characterized it as a decisive “second phase” of the war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky proposed a deal to secure compensation for countries that “suffered from Russia’s actions” during the Ukraine-Russia War.

Ukrainian Prosecutor-General Iryna Venediktova told the U.S. Helsinki Commission earlier this month that Russia has committed nearly 10,000 war crimes over the course of the war.

A compensation deal would show aggressors that they will be held accountable for their actions at the international level, Zelensky said.

Russia Cuts Gas Flow To Finland

Russia has cut off its natural gas exports to Finland in a symbolic move – NPR

On Saturday, Russia cut off gas exports to Finland following Helsinki’s refusal to pay for the gas in rubles, as Russian President Vladimir Putin has demanded European countries do since Russia invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24.

Finland’s energy ties with Russia are all but gone after decades of beneficial cooperation for both Helsinki and Moscow.

Matti Vanhanen, the former Finnish prime minister and current speaker of Parliament, said Moscow’s decision to cut off gas to Finland marks the end of an important period in Finland-Russia relations.

Vanhanen said Moscow’s gas stoppage with Finland was not retaliatory, but rather a countermove to Western sanctions imposed on Moscow following its invasion of Ukraine.

Finland and Russia share a long border and a conflict-ridden history. In World War II, Finland opted for neutrality.

It is an interesting time in Finnish-Russian relations considering many ethnic Russians live in Finland. Many thousands more fled to Finland as Putin was starting his invasion for correct fears that they might become stuck inside Russia.

Finland applied to join NATO on Friday, and it is assumed that the move on the part of Russia is also being done as a retaliation for not staying neutral. A stance that Finland took following the Warsaw act of Post WWII Europe.

Gun Battle At McDonalds In Chicago – Nine People Shot

Chicago again rocked by violence; Mayor Lightfoot calls mass shooting on Near North Side a ‘horrible tragedy’ – Chicago Tribune

Nine people were shot, two fatally, in a shooting near a fast-food restaurant and CTA station on the Near North Side late Thursday. The mayor and police leaders blamed parents for not keeping track of their children and a flood of guns entering the city.

One person shot at a crowd outside a fast-food outlet, then fled into a subway station and injured one person.

The McDonald’s and nearby blocks have been a hot spot off and on over the past few years. The mayor has resisted bringing out the National Guard to deal with violence.

Around lunchtime Friday, State and Chicago was packed with people. Police tape and traffic cones blocked the drive-thru of a McDonald’s.

Jim Smaron said the crime in the area around the McDonald’s has gotten worse in the last three to four years. He said the new Whole Foods would only make the problem worse.

The city was shocked by the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Seandell Holliday in Millennium Park. Over the weekend and without skipping a beat walks into this. Police blamed the shootings on the easy availability of illegal guns in the area.

Two people died in a shooting, including a 30-year-old man who was shot in the chest. A 31-year-old man was shot in the back and pronounced dead.

Authorities evacuated CTA passengers after a shooting at a Red Line train, and removed people who appeared to be badly injured from an area near the station entrance.

As paramedics and officers worked the scene, a fight erupted across the street and a group of teens argued with police before being pushed back.

Scientist Uncovers Origin of Alien Signal

Scientists may have pinpointed the origin of the Wow! Signal, the most famous alien radio broadcast in history, by studying a star similar to our own Sun. The Wow! Signal was detected at the Big Ear radio telescope at Ohio State University on August 15, 1977, and was noted by astronomer Jerry R. Ehman as “Wow!”. The sequence in question refers to a signal intensity variation, not a message broadcast in the signal. Many experts …
