LAS VEGAS, NV – A promotion ceremony for students at Wendell Williams Elementary School underwent an unfortunate turn of events resulting in a man being stabbed three times. The situation arose from an aggressive exchange between a man and a woman that escalated from a war of words to a physical assault.
The female implicated in the incident is now being charged with battery, assault involving a deadly weapon, and disruption of a school, disclosed Lieutenant Bryan Zink from the Clark County School District Police Department (CCSDPD). The injured man, sharing a child with the woman, was rushed to a local hospital due to his injuries. After ascertaining that the injuries weren’t life-threatening, he was later discharged.
Lieutenant Zink revealed that the confrontation began within the premises of the school’s cafeteria where the ceremony was taking place. The situation swelled to physical violence in the quad region of the school at around 10:50 a.m.
Prompted by the assault, the school authorities enforced a strict lockdown, leading to the intervention of the district police and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The school district further reassured parents and staff that no legitimate threat was posed to the students or the school staff. However, the 5th-grade promotion ceremony was deferred as a result of the incident.
The CCSDPD is actively extending its resources to investigate the ongoing case. The investigation is in progress and is set to continue.
