Massive fire at gas station leaves 1 dead, 2 injured

STICKNEY, IL – A tragic incident unfolded in Stickney Village on Wednesday afternoon when an RV caught fire at a local gas station, resulting in one fatality and two injuries. The RV was reportedly engulfed in flames, causing significant damage to the vehicle.

The fire broke out around 3 p.m., with local authorities quickly arriving on the scene. Stickney Fire Department Chief Jeff Boyajian described the scene, stating that the RV was completely consumed by the fire upon their arrival. A witness captured video footage of the flames spreading to the top of the gas station’s canopy.

Stickney Police Department Chief James Sassetti reported that a patrol officer was the first to notice the smoke. However, the intensity of the flames prevented the officer from approaching the vehicle. When the fire department arrived, they discovered two injured individuals outside the burning RV.

According to Boyajian, one of the victims was found in front of the store, while the other was near the car wash. These victims informed the fire officials that another person was unable to escape the RV. After the fire was extinguished, a body was found inside the RV. The two injured victims were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance footage in hopes of determining the cause of the deadly fire. Boyajian stated that they are in the process of examining the video to gain a better understanding of the events leading up to the incident.

The relationship between the three victims is currently unknown, and the identity of the deceased individual has not been released. Further information regarding the cause of the fire is yet to be disclosed.
