Man shoots ex-wife and her husband before turning gun on himself

LILBURN, GA – A tragic incident unfolded at a shopping plaza in Lilburn, Georgia, on Saturday night, where a man is suspected of shooting and killing a woman, believed to be his former spouse, before turning the gun on her new husband and himself, police have reported.

The scene at the Merchants Walk Plaza was swarming with law enforcement as the events of the evening began to unfold. The Lilburn Police Department has revealed that the alleged shooter, a 62-year-old male, entered the Tana Food Mart on Lawrenceville Highway armed with a pistol.

The man is reported to have shot and killed a 57-year-old woman, before injuring another man, also 62, by shooting him in the leg. The shooting took place around 6 p.m., and it has been reported that both victims were employees at the store.

Following the attack on the couple, the suspect is said to have shot himself in the head. Both the alleged shooter and the injured man were transported to Northside Gwinnett Hospital for medical attention.

While the male victim is reported to be in stable condition, the suspect’s condition is listed as critical. The identities of the three individuals involved in the incident have not been released by the police, as they await notification of the family members.

Investigators have classified the shooting as a domestic violence incident, with the female victim believed to be the ex-wife of the suspect. Preliminary information suggests that an argument preceded the shooting, which remains under investigation.
