ST. PAUL, MN – A shooting incident in St. Paul has left an 11-year-old boy in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head, as per local police. A 13-year-old girl was later taken into custody as a possible suspect in the shooting that injured the young boy.
The St. Paul Police Department (SPPD) was called to the 800 block of Pierce Butler Route shortly before 9 p.m. on Friday following reports of a shooting. When they arrived at the scene, officers found the young boy suffering from life-threatening injuries.
He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital to receive medical treatment for his injuries. He is still currently at the hospital in critical condition.
Police later apprehended a 13-year-old girl in the 100 block of Charles Avenue, who is suspected of involvement in the incident. She is expected to be held at the Ramsey County Juvenile Detention Center under suspicion of second-degree assault.
In addition to the girl’s arrest, a 34-year-old man was taken into custody for suspected felony possession of a firearm by an ineligible person and a gross misdemeanor of negligent storage of a firearm in relation to the shooting incident.
