Armed men invade hospital to shoot patient

CUERNAVACA, MX – In an act of brazen violence, armed men invaded a hospital in central Mexico on Tuesday, brutally killing a patient who was recuperating from a gunshot injury, as per reports from local law enforcement.

The audacious attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday in a medical facility located in Cuernavaca, the capital of Morelos state, a region nestled just south of Mexico City. The unfortunate victim of this ruthless act was a young man of 23, who had been admitted to the hospital on the preceding Saturday due to a gunshot injury.

The armed perpetrators managed to penetrate the intensive care unit of the hospital, ruthlessly killed the patient, and then made a swift exit from the scene.

Although such incidents are relatively rare in Mexico, they are not completely unheard of. In a recent report on Monday, local news outlets highlighted an attempted assassination in a hospital located in the northern state of Sinaloa, where a person masquerading as a doctor tried to murder a patient with a lethal injection, but failed in the attempt.

In a similar vein, back in 2023, a group of assassins stormed a hospital in the city of Culiacán, Sinaloa with the intent to kill a patient. However, they were met with resistance from other armed individuals already present in the hospital, leading to a violent gunfight that resulted in four casualties, including an innocent doctor who was trapped in the crossfire.

Mexican criminal gangs have a notorious reputation for attempting to finish off their wounded adversaries within the confines of hospitals or ambulances. A grim reminder of this was seen in 2021, when two paramedics were brutally killed while they were in the process of transporting a patient in Zacatecas, a northern Mexican state notorious for its rampant violence.
