In Germany, a 16-year-old student stabbed and seriously wounded an eight-year-old boy at school before harming himself. The incident took place at an elementary school in Bischofswerda, located east of the city of Dresden. The attacker, whose identity has not been disclosed, ran through the school building brandishing a knife before launching the brutal attack on the child. The assailant was eventually subdued by armed police officers who had surrounded the school.
In response to the horrifying ordeal, a teacher made an urgent call to the police at approximately 9:40 a.m. Within minutes, armed officers arrived at the scene, evacuating all the children from their classrooms.
The victim of the teen’s stabbing attack is a third-grade student at the school. He sustained serious injuries to his head and neck and was swiftly airlifted to the hospital via helicopter. Medical professionals have reported that his condition is currently stable. The 16-year-old attacker, a seventh-grade student at the adjacent high school, set himself on fire before being apprehended by the police. He was also taken to the hospital for treatment.
Police spokesperson Maximilian Funke stated that the incident has had a profound psychological impact on everyone involved. A crisis intervention team is providing support to the affected family members and children. At this stage, the police have not disclosed any information regarding the motive behind the attack or whether the eight-year-old boy was specifically targeted. Initially, the police mistakenly identified the victim as a girl but later corrected the information.
