Suspected gunman busted hours after triple shooting in Las Vegas hotel – New York Post

The Mirage hotel in Las Vegas was put under lockdown on Thursday night after reports emerged of a shooting in a hotel room. Three people were shot, including the suspect, who is still at large.

Billy Hemsley faces charges of murder and attempted murder after shooting his cousin in a hotel room.

A guest at the hotel said security was running in the casino at around 8 p.m. and said she saw a stretcher being brought in, but did not see anyone leaving on it.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police received the first call about the shooting on the 8th floor of the Mirage around 8:40 p.m. Aug. 4, according to an arrest report. Two additional victims reportedly suffering from gunshot wounds were taken to University Medical Center in critical condition.

Hemsley was arrested after a family member called police to report that Hemsley had shot his cousin and his daughter. Hemsley admitted to shooting his cousin and told police he “lost his s–t” when his cousin choked him while they were play fighting.

At around 11 p.m., the crime scene tape in front of The Mirage was taken down, and guests were allowed back in.

Hemsley has a previous criminal history of violence. He stabbed a girlfriend and stole her car in 2012, according to an arrest report. He was intoxicated and using crack/cocaine at the time.
