GORDON, NE – A shocking case has emerged from Gordon, Nebraska, where a 16-year-old girl is standing accused of the brutal murder of her newborn child. The teenager, whose identity is withheld due to her minor status, is facing charges of first-degree murder and weapon misuse.
On November 6, local law enforcement was alerted to a troubling situation at the girl’s home. The call was placed by the teen’s father, who initially claimed the infant had been stillborn.
Upon their arrival, officers were met with a chilling scene. The mother of the teenager was cradling the lifeless infant in a towel, and she informed the officers that her daughter had inflicted harm upon the baby.
A closer look at the baby revealed a horrifying sight. The infant’s throat had been savagely cut, severing the windpipe, and multiple stab wounds were present on the left side of its chest. Emergency medical support was promptly called to the scene.
In a statement from the parents, it was disclosed that the teenager had accessed a kitchen drawer containing a boning knife an hour before the incident. While they did not see her take the knife, it was found to be missing after a search of the kitchen.
The teenager, in an attempt to divert suspicion, had told her mother she needed to buy sanitary products due to a heavy period. When she returned home, her parents, who had discovered blood-soaked walls in her bedroom, confronted her.
According to the mother, the teenager confessed to the killing. The father discovered the infant’s body hidden in the girl’s closet, concealed in an empty dog food bag.
The teenager has been arraigned in Sheridan County Court and assigned a defense attorney. She is currently being held without bond.
