Serial kidnapper puts young woman through hell

AKRON, OH – A woman was reportedly kidnapped and subjected to days of brutal torture in a detached garage in Kenmore, Ohio. The suspect, identified as William Mozingo, allegedly abducted the victim, beat her with a baseball bat, doused her in gasoline, and threatened to set her alight.

On October 16, Akron Police, armed and ready, surrounded the shed where the woman was held captive. Bodycam footage revealed the tense moments as officers demanded Mozingo to surrender. Following his arrest, officers discovered the victim, 23-year-old Chloe Jones, hidden in a concealed hole in the garage’s ceiling.

Jones was rushed to the hospital following her rescue, where she spent three days in the intensive care unit. She suffered from multiple injuries, including facial fractures, a brain bleed, and a broken arm and fingers. The ordeal, as described by her mother, Jessi Barham, involved nonstop torture over the four days Jones was held captive.

The police reported that Jones and Mozingo were acquaintances. Mozingo allegedly kidnapped Jones after offering her a ride home in October. Instead of taking her home, he took her to an outdoor shed where he kept her locked up until the garage’s owner discovered them and alerted the police.

Jones, according to her mother, was subjected to horrifying abuse. She was tied up, doused with gasoline, and threatened with immolation. She was beaten with a baseball bat and fists, held at knifepoint, and forced to urinate on herself as she was denied bathroom breaks.

Mozingo has been charged with assault, unlawful restraint, kidnapping, abduction, parole violation, and escape. He is currently held in Summit County Jail on a $100,000 bond. Mozingo’s criminal history includes prison time for abduction in 2011, 2014, and 2019, and holding a woman at knifepoint in a Walmart bathroom in 2017.
