Florida rapper Gunplay, whose real name is Richard Morales Jr., has been arrested on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, and child abuse. The arrest came after an incident where Gunplay allegedly pressed an AK-47 against his wife’s chest and made threatening remarks. Known for his involvement in the hip-hop group Triple C’s and his appearance on the reality show “Love & Hip Hop Miami,” Gunplay’s actions have raised serious concerns about his behavior and substance abuse.
According to court records, Gunplay’s wife, Vonshae Taylor-Morales, took to Instagram to assure her followers that she and their baby are safe. She described the incident, stating that Gunplay had relapsed into substance abuse and had developed a severe drinking problem. The argument escalated when Taylor-Morales asked Gunplay to quiet down while he was playing a video game, as it was disturbing their sleeping baby. Gunplay became aggressive, throwing glass cups and liquor bottles at his wife, who shielded their child from the flying shards.
As the situation intensified, Gunplay reportedly grabbed an AK-47 and pointed it at his wife, later pressing it against her chest while making threatening remarks. Fearing for her safety, Taylor-Morales hid the rifle in luggage to prevent Gunplay from accessing it. She managed to escape the house when Gunplay briefly left the hallway. The affidavit also states that Gunplay prevented his wife from leaving and attempted to grab their baby from her.
In light of the incident, Taylor-Morales has expressed her intention to file for divorce, stating that she has done everything in her power to support and love Gunplay. She believes that he must confront his demons alone and that it is too late for their relationship. Gunplay has since been released on bond but is under house arrest, with strict orders not to contact his wife.
