One dead, three injured in suspected gang-related shooting

NEW YORK CITY, NY – A violent shooting in South Jamaica, Queens, left one man dead and three others injured on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. on 143rd Street and Foch Boulevard. Witnesses informed police of an unidentified man who approached the four victims, who had gathered around a silver SUV, and began shooting. After the attack, the shooter fled the area.

Arriving on the scene, first responders found four victims suffering from gunshot wounds. All victims were promptly transported to Jamaica Hospital.

A local man named Jared who happened to pass by the scene right after the attack described the horrifying sight. He spotted one man lying face down, wounded, and upon realizing the extent of the attack, discovered bullet-riddled cars and other victims on the ground.

Doctors at the hospital announced the death of a 29-year-old victim who was shot in the back. Another 43-year-old victim was in critical condition, while the other two victims, ages 29 and 36, remained in stable condition.

The usually calm neighborhood was understandably shaken by the violent event. Long-term residents were taken aback as they regarded their area as a middle-class community where everyone was familiar with each other.

The family members of one victim arrived at the scene, desperate for answers. Officials are examining the possibility of gang involvement in the shooting incident.

Despite recovering one firearm from the scene, it is unclear who it belongs to. An ongoing investigation is underway, and no arrests have been made at this time.
