Officers in shootout with murder suspect

DOLTON, IL – A man implicated in a Chicago murder was seized after a firearm exchange with law enforcement on Saturday evening in Dolton, a suburb to the south, as per official sources.

The altercation took place around 5:45 p.m. on the 15200 block of South Meadow Lane. While conducting a follow-up probe, Chicago police officers and SWAT team members spotted the suspect, leading to a gunfire exchange, police reports indicate.

Subsequent to the exchange, the suspect was detained and a weapon was recovered from the location. Officials confirmed that the incident resulted in no injuries.

As per department regulations, the officers who participated in the gunfire will be assigned administrative duties for a month.

Residents in a section of the community were earlier advised by Dolton police to remain indoors while the manhunt for the suspect was underway. By 9:15 p.m., the police announced that the suspect had been detained.

While it was confirmed that the alleged murder happened in Chicago, officials refrained from sharing more details. The incident is currently under scrutiny by the Civilian Office of Police Accountability in Chicago.
