HOUSTON, TX – Police authorities have confirmed the fatal shooting of a man during an early morning home invasion in Houston. The man’s wife and two young children were at the residence but were not harmed during the incident.
The fatal incident unfolded around 3 a.m. in a home located on the 5300 block of Castlecreek Lane. After an evening spent in his backyard, the man had just reentered his home when the invasion took place.
An unidentified number of suspects reportedly entered the house around 2:30 a.m., creating a disturbance that alerted the man to their presence. Upon realizing the danger, the man instructed his wife to stay low in their bedroom. Ignoring his safety, the man confronted the intruders in the hallway and was shot.
The victim’s stepdaughter, who wasn’t present during the incident, told reporters that her 6-year-old brother and 5-year-old sister tragically witnessed the horrifying event. The stepdaughter also reassured that her stepfather was not known to create trouble or engage in conflicts with anyone.
With respect to the family’s privacy, the victim’s identity has not been disclosed. Meanwhile, the Houston Police Department is actively investing in the case but has not yet released any information regarding the suspects.
