MIAMI, FL – A social media model is facing serious charges after a deadly crash in downtown Miami. The 24-year-old woman admitted to being high on party drugs when she caused the fatal accident that took two lives.
Macy Marie Lathers, who has a following as a model and dancer, is now behind bars. Police discovered her vomiting and disoriented shortly after her white Mercedes smashed into a black Range Rover and a silver Suzuki. The crash was so violent that one person died instantly, and another succumbed to injuries at the hospital.
The collision happened at North 8th Street when Lathers allegedly sped through a red light. Juanita Hernandez, a survivor of the crash, expressed her sorrow on a GoFundMe page, stating that her partner Abraham was killed. Hernandez is now unable to work due to her injuries, and Abraham’s 16-year-old son is left without his father.
Lathers tried to flee the scene without helping the victims or calling 911, but witnesses stopped her. Records show that she was driving with a suspended license, compounding her legal troubles.
Prosecutors indicated that more charges might be forthcoming once the results of Lathers’ drug tests are available. The community is left grappling with the aftermath of this tragic event as they await further legal proceedings.
