Employee shot by customer at the Church’s Chicken drive-thru

MEMPHIS, TN – An argument at a Church’s Chicken drive-thru in Memphis turned fatal on Monday night, leaving an employee dead and police searching for the suspect.

Authorities are on the lookout for a woman with purple hair, seen driving a teal-colored compact SUV, who was captured on surveillance footage at the Park Avenue location, roughly six miles southeast of downtown Memphis. The confrontation occurred just before 9 p.m., according to police reports.

Responding officers found the employee, who was then transported to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The victim, who has not been publicly identified, was working at the fast-food restaurant when the altercation with the suspect began.

Details about the argument remain unclear, but police noted that the teal-colored SUV was seen leaving the drive-thru area. Moments later, the employee stepped outside to get some air, and a gunshot was heard. Surveillance footage captured the SUV speeding away from the scene.

The vehicle was later recovered by authorities, but no arrests have been made as of yet. Memphis police continue to investigate the incident and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

A spokesperson for Church’s Chicken expressed deep sorrow over the loss of their team member, stating that the location will be closed for several days to support the victim’s family and other employees. The company is also cooperating closely with law enforcement to aid in the investigation.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the incident is encouraged to contact Memphis police.
