After the Denver Nuggets win the NBA Championship nine people are shot

After the Denver Nuggets’ big win against the Miami Heat, claiming the NBA championship, the Mile-High City was rocked by violence last Tuesday night. At around 12:30 a.m. MT in the 2000 Block of Market Street, nine individuals were reportedly injured, including one suspect that was taken into custody.

Douglas Schepman, public information officer for the Denver Police, confirmed that the nine victims were hospitalized and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. It is still not clear how the incident began or if the victims were deliberately targeted by the shooter.

Social media footage from the area depicts people joyously celebrating in the streets, clustering in intersections and even scaling streetlights. Currently, the Denver Police are examining the incident closely and actively searching for more suspects or clues.

The police department urged citizens to remember that violent acts are unacceptable, no matter the circumstances. Thus, despite the excitement that the championship brought about, individuals should be mindful of their actions and practice safety at all times.
