Abducted baby found safe after mom was discovered dead at park

CLOVIS, NM – According to the FBI in Albuquerque, an abducted infant girl from a park close to Clovis, New Mexico, has been secured safely, and a suspect is now in custody. Clovis police reported the 10-month-old Eleia Maria Torres was transferred to a local hospital as a precautionary step. No additional detail was released immediately.

On Friday, New Mexico State Police had released an Amber Alert for the baby. There are ongoing investigations regarding the deaths of two women found at the park on Friday, along with a severely injured 5-year-old girl.

The confirmed deceased women have been identified as Samantha Cisneros and Taryn Allen. Both were 23 years old and residents of Texico, New Mexico. Authorities established that Cisneros was the mother of both the baby and the 5-year-old girl still hospitalized.

Additional details of the case are not yet clear. A police statement mentioned a park-goer who allegedly heard gunshots but did not immediately report it to authorities.

In the course of the ongoing investigation into the double homicide, the New Mexico State Police stated that the biological fathers of the girls, though cooperative with investigators, aren’t considered suspects.

Investigation details show that officers discovered the women, their bags, and other belongings at a city park around five miles north of Clovis. They also found a silver Dodge minivan owned by one of the deceased women, in addition to an infant’s car seat, stroller, and a small baby bottle, triggering an immediate search for the infant.

As initially suggested in the Amber Alert, the unidentified suspect might have used a maroon Honda vehicle. Prior to the recent developments, the combined efforts of the FBI and Clovis police solicited public assistance in the ongoing investigations, with FBI Special Agent, Raul Bujanda, asking for any tips or leads and emphasizing that no detail was too small.
