TAYLOR, MI – A young security guard’s life was cut tragically short while on duty at an industrial park in Taylor, Michigan. Cynthia Platt, 26, was shot Wednesday night while patrolling the area, leaving her family in mourning.
The police initially responded to what was believed to be a suicide call. Upon arrival and investigation, authorities quickly determined that the circumstances did not align. The 911 call came from Platt’s boyfriend, who reported the situation but was not present when officers arrived at the scene. Platt’s vehicle and firearm were also missing.
Law enforcement soon located the boyfriend in the city of Hamtramck. He is currently being interviewed by police and remains in custody, though he has not yet been formally charged.
Platt’s family is overwhelmed by her sudden death. Her cousin, Rebecca Platt, shared memories of a recent conversation where Cynthia expressed excitement about re-enrolling in school. She also emphasized past instances where Platt had mentioned feeling uneasy and concerned for her safety, noting the family’s efforts to support her during these times.
This senseless incident leaves family members and friends seeking answers and grappling with their loss. To aid in covering funeral costs, a GoFundMe page has been launched, inviting the community to assist in giving Cynthia the farewell she deserves.
In light of the ongoing investigation, the police are working diligently to unravel the details surrounding this heartbreaking event.
