Woman killed with conch shell during bar fight

SAN PEDRO, BELIZE – A Texas woman living in Belize was killed over the weekend following an altercation sparked by a golf cart incident. Jennifer Lynn Griffith, aged 46, suffered a fatal blow to the head by a conch shell during a brawl with employees at the El Norte Bar in San Pedro.

Authorities confirmed that Griffith and her husband, Maynor Rene Ancona, 41, were involved in the fracas after Ancona crashed their golf cart into the bar. During the subsequent brawl, Griffith was hit in the head by a conch shell thrown by an unidentified individual, sustaining a serious concussion.

Belize Police Commissioner Chester Williams mentioned that the injured woman initially refused medical treatment when escorted to the clinic by the police. However, the next day, Griffith returned to the clinic due to sustained pain and, unfortunately, passed away.

The actual cause of Griffith’s death is yet to be ascertained. An autopsy is underway to determine if the fatal incident resulted from the conch shell injury or the initial golf cart accident. While police were unable to confirm if an El Norte Bar staff member was responsible for throwing the conch shell, several individuals have been detained and could potentially face charges for disorderly conduct related to the brawl.

Jennifer Griffith had moved from Texas and resided in Ambergis Caye for several years. The investigations around the bizarre incident continue.
