Two people murdered in Colorado dorm room

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Two individuals were discovered deceased in a dorm room at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs campus early Friday morning. The Colorado Springs Police Department is treating the deaths as a double homicide, contrary to initial speculations of a possible murder-suicide.

The police department provided an update on Friday evening, stating that the incident did not seem to be a murder-suicide and both deaths were under investigation as homicides. The department is actively pursuing leads and will share more information as it becomes available.

The victims, each with a single gunshot wound to the head, were discovered around 6 a.m. The police department has categorized this as an isolated incident, indicating no immediate threat to the larger community.

In response to the incident, the campus was placed under lockdown for approximately 90 minutes on Friday. The university remained closed for the rest of the day.

Ira Cronin, a police spokesperson, reassured the community in a briefing, stating that there was no ongoing threat. The police department is in the early stages of the investigation and is working towards notifying the victims’ families.
