Two killed in highway shooting

LOS ANGELES, CA – Chaos erupted on Interstate 5 in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, as a deadly shooting during Thursday’s rush hour left one person dead and another critically injured. The northbound lanes remain closed as the California Highway Patrol (CHP) intensifies its search for the gunmen.

The incident began as a road rage altercation between a gold Cadillac and a dark Dodge Durango. The Cadillac reportedly rear-ended another car, leading to a violent response from the Durango’s occupants, who fired multiple shots before speeding away. The Cadillac’s passenger was killed, and the driver was hospitalized.

A tense atmosphere hangs over the community, with residents expressing fear over such brazen violence. “It’s terrifying that something like this can happen in broad daylight,” a bystander commented.

Investigators are scouring the scene and reviewing footage from nearby vehicles, hoping to identify the suspects. They are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in their investigation.

The freeway closure has caused significant traffic disruptions, with detours in place as detectives gather evidence, including new findings a short distance from the primary scene. Commuters are advised to plan alternate routes as the investigation unfolds.

The CHP assures the public that all efforts are being made to apprehend those responsible and restore safety to the freeway. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers on the road and the need for vigilance.
