Texas homeowner kills alleged BBQ pit thief

HUMBLE, TX – A Texas homeowner fatally shot a man this past weekend, alleging that he was attempting to steal his BBQ pit. The incident occurred early Sunday in Humble, a city located in Texas, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

The man accused of attempting to steal the BBQ pit was chased in his vehicle by the homeowner. The owner eventually caught up with the suspect, who also had a passenger in his vehicle. After exiting his vehicle, the homeowner stated that he approached the thieves fearing for his safety. The homeowner believed that the suspect was reaching for a weapon when he was approaching him.

The owner fired several rounds towards the alleged thief, who later died on the scene. A second person, who had accompanied the suspect, wasn’t injured. The gunfire did not wound the other individual in the vehicle with the suspect. Currently, he is not facing any charges according to the sheriff.

Sheriff Gonzalez mentioned that the homeowner cooperated fully with investigators and gave a detailed account of the incident to authorities. The case will be presented to a grand jury once the District Attorney’s Office of Harris County completes the investigation.
