Taco Bell employee shot by angry customer at drive-thru

CHARLOTTE, NC – A fast-food worker at a Taco Bell in North Carolina is currently battling life-threatening injuries after a customer, disgruntled over a perceived error in change, shot him multiple times. The Charlotte-Mecklenberg Police Department responded to the incident, which took place around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Upon reaching the scene, the police found the employee with multiple gunshot wounds. Witnesses reported that the customer had become aggressive in the drive-thru, believing he had been given less change than he was due. The situation escalated when the customer, instead of leaving, entered the restaurant, brandished a gun, and started shooting. The employee was critically injured, while the customer managed to flee the scene.

The police, however, were able to identify the suspect’s vehicle, described as a “distinctive model,” using surveillance footage and witness statements. They tracked the suspect to his home.

The suspect, 67-year-old Doll McLendon, surrendered peacefully when the police arrived at his residence. McLendon is now facing charges including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. He also faced charges for inflicting serious injury and discharging a weapon into occupied property.

The identity of the Taco Bell employee remains undisclosed. In a statement released by Taco Bell, the company expressed their shock at the incident. They also confirmed that the franchise owner is working closely with local law enforcement in their investigation and providing support to all team members affected by the incident.
