Suspect arrested for fatal parking lot shooting

A suspect was arrested after a fatal shooting at an apartment complex parking lot in Glendale, Arizona.

The episode unfolded in the vicinity of 67th and Glendale Avenues on the evening of May 23rd. Police received a distress call around 7:20 p.m. regarding gunfire at the apartment complex’s parking lot.

Upon arrival, the officers discovered Maurice Marshall, 41, gravely injured from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention and hospitalization, Marshall succumbed to his injuries.

The suspect, Quincy Lofton, 37, has since been apprehended and is facing charges related to Marshall’s murder.

Details from the investigation suggest that an altercation sparked between Lofton and Marshall when their vehicles were parked adjacently in the lot. Lofton allegedly discharged his firearm multiple times at Marshall and then left the scene.

However, diligent police work, involving the examination of eyewitness accounts and surveillance video, led to Lofton’s capture two days after the incident.

Lofton was already on the law enforcement radar with an outstanding warrant for an extreme DUI violation. His record also shows a pattern of violent felonies, for which he was under probation. He now stands accused of second-degree murder and weapons offenses.
