NEW YORK, NY – A quiet evening in the Bronx turned chaotic when gunfire erupted, leaving six men injured and police scrambling to find the culprits.
Authorities say the suspects arrived on a scooter and targeted a group of people gathered under scaffolding on East 191st Street and Morris Avenue in the Fordham Heights neighborhood. The attack, which took place around 8 p.m., left the community in shock.
Witnesses described a chilling scene: two men, one wearing a helmet, parked their scooter in Saint James Park before approaching the group and firing nine rounds. The victims, all men in their 20s and 30s, were hit in various parts of their bodies, including the stomach, groin, leg, and hand. Miraculously, all are expected to survive.
Upon arrival, police found two victims at the scene. Two others had managed to flee and seek help from emergency medical services, while the remaining two walked into local hospitals on their own.
Detectives are now piecing together the events leading up to the shooting, interviewing victims and witnesses to determine a motive. Some victims are currently in surgery, complicating the investigation. Authorities are also considering the possibility of gang involvement.
The incident has left the Fordham Heights community on edge, with residents hoping for a swift resolution. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue their search for the suspects.
