CHARLOTTE, NC – Joshua Lee Hunsucker, a North Carolina man previously charged with murdering his wife by using eye drops to poison her, was recently arrested on the accusation of attempting the same method on his 11-year-old daughter, resulting in her hospitalization.
After Hunsucker’s Tuesday booking, the court documents show prosecutors requesting to rescind his bond because of the alleged abuse and neglect of his children and allegations of intimidating witnesses in his ongoing murder trial.
The court documents state that Hunsucker, 40, is suspected of poisoning his daughter by spiking her drink with eye drops, as evidenced by tests on a urine sample taken from her. The young girl exhibited symptoms including low blood pressure, a decreased heart rate, extreme exhaustion, and sleepiness, as well as constricted blood vessels, which led to her being hospitalized.
Prosecutors suggested Hunsucker’s motive in poisoning his daughter was to frame witnesses in his wife’s murder case, John and Susie Robinson. Hunsucker was indicted on Monday on four counts of intimidation and four counts of obstruction of justice.
Hunsucker’s arrest was initially related to his wife, Stacy Robinson Hunsucker’s death. He is accused of killing her using tetrahydrozoline, a substance found in eyedrops, and providing false information to the insurance company about her death to claim a $250,000 life insurance policy.
Suspicion around Mrs. Hunsucker’s death led to an investigation, during which her preserved post-mortem blood sample showed an excess of eyedrop substance. Hunsucker is accused of using the poison in her drinks consistently, leading to her subsequent death.
Following his arrest in December 2019, Hunsucker posted a $1.5 million bond and has since been under supervision with an ankle monitor and a curfew.
He is further suspected of threatening John and Susie Robinson by sending them a package, filming them in public spaces, and driving past their home frequently. He is also alleged to have falsely accused John Robinson of attacking and kidnapping him.
