Shooting incident leaves 13-year-old boy dead

COLUMBUS, OH – A local teen tragically lost his life Friday, several hours after having been shot in southeast Columbus, confirmed authorities. Police officers responded to reports of a gunfire incident on the 4000 block of Monmouth Court, arriving on the scene around 4:12 p.m.

They found the young boy, who was reportedly in an “extremely critical” state. He was quickly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The boy, identified as 13-year-old Kamarion Woody, unfortunately, did not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead at 1:50 a.m. Friday. Next of kin have been alerted about the tragedy.

As per a police sergeant at the site of the incident, a firearm was recovered from the scene and several people in the vicinity were interviewed. Law enforcement officers are treating the area as the scene of a crime and are currently reviewing video surveillance footage from the area.

It’s been reported that Woody wasn’t the only teenager to be shot in Columbus on the fateful Friday. In an unrelated event, a 16-year-old boy was critically wounded on the city’s southwest side as a result of another shooting.

As for Woody’s case, police are yet to apprehend a suspect. They are calling upon any witnesses or anyone who may have information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
