Parents arrested after severe injury and death of infant twins

COCOA, FL – A couple from Florida is now under arrest, facing grave accusations of child abuse following the death of one of their three-month-old twins last Thursday. The other twin was found in a severely injured state, as reported by the local police.

The Cocoa Police Department has charged 23-year-old Quentin Smith with aggravated child abuse, child neglect leading to serious bodily injury, and domestic battery. His 18-year-old partner, Hannah Jones, is also under arrest on charges of aggravated child abuse, child neglect leading to serious bodily injury, and failure to inform law enforcement about the incident.

The police were called to a house on N. Fiske Boulevard after receiving 911 calls about a child who was not responding. Despite their attempts, the police were unable to revive the child.

Detectives launched an investigation into the circumstances leading to the child’s death and the serious injuries inflicted on the twin sibling. The investigation, which involved multiple witness interviews and collection of physical evidence from the house, led to the arrest of Smith and Jones.

Smith, during his police interview, confessed to physically harming both children on various occasions, as per a report by Fox Orlando. He reportedly admitted to biting the infants multiple times, forcefully pulling one of the children’s arms, and shaking one to silence them.

Jones, during her interview, admitted that she was aware of Smith’s abusive actions but did not report him to the police, as per a police report quoted by the news outlet. The police have hinted that the couple might face more charges.
