Newlywed bride tragically killed by drunk driver in golf cart accident

In a heartbreaking turn of events, a bride who had just been married lost her life. An intoxicated driver collided with the golf cart she was riding in on a South Carolina beach road. The incident took place on Folly Beach, near Charleston, where the speed limit is set at 25 mph (40 kph).

The driver responsible for the accident, 25-year-old Jamie Lee Komoroski, was operating a rental car at a dangerous speed of 65 mph (105 kph) when she crashed into the golf cart at around 10 p.m. on Friday. According to investigators, data extracted from Komoroski’s car revealed that she had only briefly applied the brakes before the fatal collision.

Samantha Miller, 34, from Charlotte, North Carolina, was the bride who tragically lost her life in the accident. The Charleston County Coroner’s Office confirmed her passing. Andrew Gilreath, the Folly Beach Public Safety Department Director, stated that Miller had just gotten married.

Three other individuals in the golf cart sustained injuries in the accident. Gilreath noted that the golf cart was equipped with lights, making it legal to operate during nighttime hours.

Komoroski now faces multiple criminal charges for the incident. If convicted, she could receive a prison sentence ranging from one to 25 years for each DUI charge.

As of Monday afternoon, Komoroski remained in the Charleston County jail. There was no indication in the records whether she had obtained legal representation.
