Toddler daughter of NFL star drowns in family pool

The 2-year-old daughter of Shaquil Barrett, a linebacker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, tragically drowned in a swimming pool at their Florida residence on Sunday. Local authorities have ruled out foul play, deeming the incident an unfortunate accident.

Tampa Police Department officers arrived at the Beach Park home in Tampa around 9:30 a.m. following reports of a child falling into a pool. The toddler was immediately taken to a nearby hospital but, sadly, could not be resuscitated and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The Buccaneers organization has expressed their deepest sympathies and support for Barrett and his family during this heart-wrenching period. The team released a statement acknowledging the profound loss of their beloved Arrayah and emphasized their commitment to standing with Shaq, Jordanna, and the entire Barrett family as they navigate through this unimaginably difficult time.

Shaquil Barrett, aged 30, has had a successful nine-season career in the National Football League (NFL). He began as an undrafted free agent from Colorado State and spent his first five years playing for the Denver Broncos, earning a Super Bowl victory in 2015. In 2019, Barrett signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, contributing to their Super Bowl triumph in 2021.
