MIAMI GARDENS, FL – A horrifying assault involving a machete has taken place in Miami Gardens, Florida, resulting in one man losing a hand. The suspect, discovered fully naked, was alleged to have purposely committed the violent act.
Authorities received a 911 call and found the afflicted individual around 4 a.m. Monday. Besides a severed hand, the man had severe bleeding from a head wound. A bloodied machete was reportedly found close to the scene.
Witnesses took note of seeing a man, identified as Tyrone Arthur Rhyant, making a dash away from the scene in the nude around the time of the incident.
The 54-year-old Rhyant was located not far from the location, relaxing on a couch after the victim was able to describe his assailant.
Officials have not disclosed a motive behind the violent attack.
Nonetheless, it was revealed that Rhyant’s estranged wife, who has a current restraining order against him, lives close to where the incident occurred.
Police reports indicate Rhyant, of Opa-locka, made a chilling confession when taken into custody. He asked, “Is he dead? I tried to kill him.”
The victim was hastily transferred to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital to receive urgent treatment.
Currently, Rhyant faces charges of attempted murder causing injury. He is now in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. The suspect is currently being held without bond.
