Authorities in Colorado believe that 20-year-old Payshas Whatley, a mother of two, was murdered by her boyfriend, 22-year-old Enrique Palomera, who later died by suicide.
Palomera reportedly killed Whatley in a Colorado Springs apartment on March 4th, and officers arrived at the scene after receiving calls of gunfire.
Both Whatley and Palomera were found inside the apartment and pronounced dead at the scene. Whatley’s death is being investigated as a homicide, although the Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause.
Police believe Palomera committed suicide, and they have no reason to believe there is a threat to the public or any other suspects being sought. However, details on what led up to the tragedy were not immediately made public.
Whatley leaves behind two young children, a 3-year-old and a 6-month-old. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support her children and pay for loved ones’ travel expenses to attend her funeral. The remaining money will go towards her daughters’ college fund.
It has not been specified whether Palomera was the father of Whatley’s children.
