Mom intentionally runs over 7-year-old son with her car on their way home from school

BOAZ, AL – A local woman, Sarai James, 27, was arrested for a disturbing crime against her young son. The woman allegedly ran over her 7-year-old son with her vehicle in an intentional attack. Since her arrest, she has been charged with aggravated child abuse.

Boaz Police Chief Michael Abercrombie reported that the incident happened after James picked her son up from school on Thursday, after being informed that he had misbehaved.

James is said to have stopped her vehicle not far from the school. She forced the child out and commanded him to make the rest of the journey home on foot, a distance of approximately eight blocks. Abercrombie discloses that the child attempted to reenter the vehicle at some point, but the mother accelerated, resulting in him being dragged under the car and run over by the rear tire.

Emergency services transported the boy to UAB Hospital. Despite the grim circumstances, Abercrombie announced that the young boy suffered only surface wounds. He said, “It was a miracle he was not hurt worse than he was.”

Following the incident, James was apprehended and her bond was set at $50,000. She has since been released from the Marshall County Jail on Sunday.
