CANOGA PARK, CA – A fatal shooting late Wednesday night in Canoga Park has left one man dead and another critically injured, prompting a manhunt for the suspect or suspects responsible.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred around 11:40 p.m. on the 8300 block of Northgate Avenue. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found two men lying in the street in front of an apartment building. Both men appeared to have been struck by multiple gunshots.
Emergency personnel immediately performed lifesaving measures on both victims. One of the men, who was unconscious when police arrived, was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The other victim remains in critical condition after being rushed to the hospital.
Authorities believe the men were standing outside when an unknown assailant or assailants opened fire. The identities of the victims, both believed to be in their early 20s, have not yet been released pending notification of their families.
