Man murders wife with a hammer and buries her on their property

NASHVILLE, TN – A 70-year-old Nashville resident is facing charges after he reportedly murdered his wife with a hammer and buried her on their property. Joseph Glynn was apprehended on Saturday, following the discovery of his 76-year-old wife’s body, Jackie Glynn, in a grave on their shared property in Dekalb County, according to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. Jackie had been reported missing a day prior.

The investigation revealed that Glynn confessed to striking his wife in the head with a hammer at their residence on New Year’s Day. He subsequently transported her body to Dekalb County the following day for burial. Glynn allegedly misled his wife’s children, stating that she had left due to a terminal illness.

However, the children grew suspicious of Glynn’s account and learned from Jackie’s healthcare provider that his claims were false. After a Silver Alert for Jackie was issued on Friday, investigators located her car near their Dekalb County property. A recently filled hole was later discovered on the premises.

Jackie was found buried in the hole, which measured six feet wide, ten feet long, and six feet deep. Her body was concealed in a plastic vehicle cargo box, hidden beneath a stack of roofing shingles. Glynn reportedly had a contractor dig the hole on December 16, under the pretense of creating a burn pit.

The hammer that Glynn allegedly used to murder his wife has not been found. Authorities believe that Glynn discarded the murder weapon at the Keltonburg Community Center. Glynn is currently detained at the Davidson County Jail, facing charges of criminal homicide, abuse of a corpse, and evidence tampering. His bond is set at $1,030,000.
