Man killed on Metro platform in deadly shooting

LOS ANGELES, CA – A fatal shooting incident at a Metro platform on Slauson Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard in South Los Angeles has set off an intense manhunt. The Los Angeles Police Department came to the crime scene at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, following reports of the shooting.

The victim, a man believed to be between 35 to 45 years old, was walking towards the Hyde Park station with a companion when disaster struck. According to police, a male suspect brandished a handgun and fired at the victim before escaping the scene ahead of the LAPD’s arrival.

Authorities found the victim writhing with a gunshot wound on his back. Despite being promptly rushed to a hospital, the victim succumbed to his injuries. The suspect is a man estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old, last seen clad in a blue hoodie, blue jeans, and identifiable by a limp.

Due to the ongoing investigation and consequent police activity, K-Line train service connecting Fairview Heights and Leimert Park stations has been temporarily discontinued. Commuters are advised to use the Metro Bus Line 40 on Crenshaw Boulevard and Florence Avenue or take the Metro Bus Line 210 as an alternative mode of transportation.

The Hyde Park station is currently under lockdown as authorities delve deeper into the deadly incident. The victim’s identity continues to be withheld and will be disclosed by the L.A. County Coroner’s Office following notification to his next of kin.
