Man killed by stray bullet while sleeping

DALLAS, TX – A man was tragically killed while sleeping in his apartment in Dallas, with police indicating that he was not the intended target. Authorities have yet to make any arrests in connection with the incident.

The shooting unfolded in the early hours at an apartment complex located in West Oak Cliff, near Quihi Boulevard. Upon arriving at the scene, Dallas police officers discovered a barrage of bullet holes peppering the exterior of a first-floor apartment. Sources suggest that this unit was the actual target of the gunfire.

Inside the targeted apartment, bullet holes marred the interior walls and furniture, but fortunately, no one was inside at the time, and no injuries were reported there. However, at least one stray bullet traveled upwards, penetrating a second-floor apartment where it fatally struck a man as he slept beside his wife.

A resident of the complex recounted the chaos and heartbreak of the morning, noting the presence of children in the area and expressing sorrow for the victim’s wife, who awoke to find her husband dead. The resident also voiced concerns about the safety of the community, especially with the suspects still at large.

The victim’s wife is reportedly staying with friends, too frightened to return to the apartment complex. The first-floor unit has since been boarded up as detectives continue their investigation, searching for two suspects involved in the shooting. Authorities have not yet released any descriptions of the suspects.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward to aid in the investigation and bring those responsible to justice. The community remains on edge as they hope for a swift resolution to the case.
