Man dies after getting punched in the head outside restaurant

CHICAGO, IL – A 47-year-old man died from injuries sustained in an assault near the House of Blues restaurant in the River North district of Chicago, according to police reports. The victim was reportedly approached by two individuals on North Dearborn Street who sought money from him. Following a brief encounter, the man was struck in the head, causing him to fall to the ground.

Police discovered the injured man unresponsive at the scene. He was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with a critical head injury, which led to his death shortly after he arrived at the facility.

Although authorities have yet to publish the victim’s identity, the active investigation includes reviews of surveillance footage from the area. There are several surveillance cameras in the nearby vicinity that might provide crucial evidence leading to the suspects. So far, no arrests have been made.

The incident has sparked unease among nearby residents. Local resident, Ethan Brewer, expressed concerns about safety and the unpredictability of such unprovoked attacks. Another resident, who has lived in the area for over 47 years, reported feeling anxious and constantly on guard following the recent assault and another violent attack in the neighborhood earlier in the week.

In the prior case, an out-of-town visitor was assaulted outside the Burberry store on Michigan Avenue. The assailant reportedly used a decorative log from a holiday display to attack the woman.
