Man charged with elderly uncle’s murder, police find suspect with bloody weapons

A man from Savage, Minnesota, is facing charges of murder and attempted murder after allegedly killing his uncle, a former mayor in the city of Janesville, and severely injuring his aunt. The accused, Adam Garrett Roring, 44, has a history of misdemeanor convictions for speeding and driving without a license. The incident occurred in the early morning hours last Thursday in the couple’s home in Bloomington. The victims, Mark Novak, 74, and Pamela Novak, had been married for over 50 years. They were attacked with a large chef’s knife, a metal bar, and a partial nunchuck.

According to the Bloomington Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call from Pamela Novak, who managed to provide crucial information about the suspect, the attack, and his whereabouts. Upon arrival, the police found Pamela on the ground inside the home and witnessed a male running from the scene. They apprehended the suspect, later identified as Roring. Both victims sustained apparent stab and blunt force injuries, with Mark Novak tragically pronounced dead at Hennepin County Medical Center. Pamela Novak remains in critical but stable condition.

Roring was found in possession of a bloody partial nunchuck and metal bar when he was apprehended. The suspect claimed that he acquired these items from an unknown intruder during a struggle. Roring further explained that he happened upon the attack while returning house keys to the victims in the early morning hours. However, authorities have not been able to substantiated his claims.

The Bloomington Police Chief, Booker Hodges, expressed his condolences to the victims’ family and commended the swift action of the dispatchers and police officers in apprehending the suspect. Meanwhile, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support the Novak family. The campaign aims to raise funds for Mark’s funeral expenses, Pamela’s medical recovery, and to assist the grieving widow in rebuilding her life independently.

The Novak family has been devastated by the tragic events that unfolded in their home. The GoFundMe post highlights the unimaginable task of helping Pamela recover while grappling with the raw grief of losing Mark. The community has rallied together, expressing their support and offering prayers for the victims and their family.

As the investigation continues, authorities have not disclosed any further information about the motive behind the attack. However, Roring’s car was found parked near the scene, adding to the evidence against him. Roring is currently in custody at the Hennepin County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court.
