Mother’s boyfriend charged with murder after allegedly killing her 2-year-old son

A 2-year-old boy tragically lost his life at the hands of his mother’s boyfriend. The man allegedly threw the small child against a wall in a fit of rage. The suspect was violently enraged after being woken up by the toddler, authorities revealed on Tuesday. The toddler’s battered body was discovered on Sunday afternoon, prompting a swift response from law enforcement. The incident occurred at a residence on East 68th Street near Avenue U in Brooklyn New York, where the suspect, 23-year-old Latrell Lewis, resides.

Upon arriving at the scene of the horrendous crime in response to a 911 call, police found the young boy with severe bruising to his stomach. The child was immediately rushed to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center. However, the 2-year-old was tragically was pronounced dead at the hospital. During the subsequent interrogation, NYPD Assistant Chief of Detectives Joe Kenny disclosed that Lewis admitted to throwing the child against the wall in frustration over being awakened from sleep.

The child suffered a fractured skull and extensive internal injuries, as determined by the city Medical Examiner’s Office. Consequently, the boy’s death has been ruled a homicide. Lewis was taken into custody on Monday and has been charged with the child’s murder. His arraignment was scheduled for Tuesday. It was revealed that Lewis had a prior arrest for reckless driving.
