Man arrested for chasing woman to her door and sexually assaulting her

DALLAS, TX – A quiet neighborhood in Dallas was shaken early Monday morning when a shocking incident unfolded on Thomas Avenue. A woman, who was simply walking to her car, became the target of a terrifying attack. Authorities have charged 21-year-old Evan Bishop in connection with the assault, which left the community on edge.

According to police reports, the victim was heading to her vehicle just after dawn when she noticed a man, later identified as Bishop, fixating his gaze on her. Despite her attempts to disengage by firmly saying “no,” the man responded with an unsettling nod. In a matter of moments, the situation escalated as Bishop allegedly pursued her to her apartment door.

Once there, the man reportedly grabbed her from behind, committing a sexual assault that echoed through the neighborhood with the victim’s desperate cries for help. Neighbors, including Jacqueline Mally, were jolted awake by the commotion. Mally, who called 911, described the screams as so intense they could not be ignored.

The entire incident was captured on the victim’s Ring doorbell camera, providing crucial evidence that was promptly handed over to law enforcement. Dallas police issued an alert to the community, urging residents to be vigilant and report any sightings of a man fitting Bishop’s description.

The swift response from the community was instrumental. Within hours, anonymous tips led detectives to a nearby building, just steps from where the assault occurred. A neighbor managed to record the arrest on Tuesday afternoon, expressing relief at the rapid resolution and the suspect’s identification through shared images.

Bishop’s residence was confirmed by an apartment manager who stated he lived with his mother in the same area. Additional security footage from the complex was provided to the police, further solidifying the case against him. The proximity of Bishop’s home to the scene of the crime has left many residents uneasy, but grateful for his apprehension.

Despite repeated requests for comment, the Dallas Police Department has remained tight-lipped about the investigation, citing the ongoing nature of the case as the reason for their silence.
