Kidnapped Children Found Safe After Nearly a Year

In a lucky turn of events, two missing children from Missouri were found safe and sound in Florida after almost a year of being gone. The children had been reported missing since March 15, 2022, and were finally located on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at a Winn-Dixie supermarket in Florida.

The children were discovered by the High Springs Police Department after a routine check of the vehicle they were in, which had been tagged as belonging to a fugitive.

The vehicle was registered under Kristi Nicole Gilley, 36, the non-custodial mother of the children. Gilley was detained and arrested on an active kidnapping warrant out of Clay County, Missouri, where the children were originally reported missing.

Despite having disguised their identities, the children and Gilley were identified and taken into custody. The children have since been handed over to the Florida Department of Children and Families Services, and will be reunited with their family.
