BOSTON, MA – A series of shootings in Boston led to the death of Christian Cousins, a senior at a suburban high school in Massachusetts. He was shot on July 2nd in Mattapan, while accompanied by a classmate. The classmate was injured in the shooting but is expected to survive.
The attacks happened near Gladeside Ave. and Donwood Terrace in Mattapan, shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Friday, according to Boston police. The area, known for its tree-lined residential neighborhood, became a crime scene following the shootings.
Video footage from the scene revealed a home enclosed with crime scene markers and a vehicle that apparently had crashed through a fence.
Initial investigations conducted by the police suggest that the shootings were not arbitrary assaults. However, police have not released further details about the case.
The Stoughton Public School district confirmed Cousins was part of the Stoughton High School class of 2025. Officials from the school district expressed their grief over the loss and extended their thoughts to Cousins’ family, friends, and teachers, as well as the entire Stoughton High community.
The school district is also concerned about the second student involved in the shooting. They stated, “We are also keeping the other SHS student and their family and friends in our thoughts.” To support the school community, the high school’s crisis team plans to offer more information regarding accessible support soon.
Boston witnessed a horrifying series of events from Thursday night through Friday, with seven people being struck by gunfire. Two, including Cousins, unfortunately, did not survive these incidents.
