SMYRNA, GA – A two-year-old toddler named Jacob Eliel Vieras tragically passed away after being left in a hot car outside his home in Georgia. However, local police stated that there was no indication suggesting that Jacob was accidentally left inside the car.
The young victim reportedly had been in the car for a prolonged period on Tuesday evening. Upon receiving a call shortly before 7 p.m., the Cobb County Police rushed to the scene and hastened Jacob to the hospital, where he later passed away.
During a press conference on Wednesday, local authorities mentioned that it was too early to determine if any criminal charges would be applied in association with Jacob’s death. The police also declined to provide any further details or speculations on Jacob’s tragic end.
A friend initiated a GoFundMe campaign aiming to cover Jacob’s funeral costs and described his demise as an “accident”, albeit not providing additional details. The fundraiser has so far received more than $6,000, almost reaching its $7,000 target.
The toddler’s obituary revealed that Jacob is survived by his parents, Jose Noel Viera and Jessica Mejia, and a sibling named Jaylin.
Cobb County Police Chief Stewart VanHoozer expressed his condolences to all those affected by the tragedy, including Jacob’s family, friends, and neighbors.
