Ex-boyfriend of man shoots him and his new partner before shooting himself

HOUSTON, TX – A domestic dispute erupted into gunfire in a Houston neighborhood late Thursday morning, leaving one man injured and another dead in an apparent murder-suicide. Harris County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a weapons disturbance around 11:28 a.m. on the 2700 block of Donalyn Drive, where a confrontation between three men took a tragic turn.

According to preliminary information from the investigation, the incident began when a man arrived at his ex-boyfriend’s residence, reportedly to confront him. An argument ensued in the street, escalating quickly when the suspect pulled out a firearm and shot his ex-boyfriend multiple times in the legs. The wounded man managed to flee the scene in his vehicle and sought help at a nearby convenience store. He was later transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As the situation unfolded, the victim’s current boyfriend emerged from the house to investigate the commotion. The suspect allegedly fired additional shots in his direction, but the new boyfriend was able to escape unharmed. The suspect then turned the gun on himself, ending his life before authorities arrived.

The identities of those involved have not been released, pending notification of family members. The suspect, described as a man in his mid-60s, and the two other individuals, both in their mid-40s, represent different ethnic backgrounds, according to law enforcement officials. Investigators are still piecing together the sequence of events and the motivations behind the suspect’s actions.

Authorities are reviewing security footage and interviewing witnesses to determine whether the suspect had been waiting outside the residence prior to the altercation. The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are urging any additional witnesses to come forward with information.

A school bus passing through the area at the time of the incident was temporarily halted, but no students were exposed to the violence. The bus driver acted quickly, ensuring the safety of the child on board, who has since been reunited with their family.

No prior disturbances have been reported at the residence, as investigators continue to explore the history between the individuals involved. The crime scene, which spans a significant portion of the street, remains active as authorities gather evidence under challenging weather conditions.

Despite the alarming nature of the incident, nearby schools were not placed on lockdown due to the swift response from law enforcement. The scene is expected to remain active for several hours as authorities continue their work.
