Dentist severely beats Doctor with a golf club in country club cart path dispute

On Sunday, Florida dentist Eddie Orobitg had a run-in with Dr. Joseph Sivak at the Harbor Hills Country Club in Lake County.

Orobitg, age 52, was playing with his son when he noticed Sivak and his wife on the golf cart path, breaking the golf course rule around walking. Despite Sivak revealing that he was well-aware of the rule, the altercation quickly spun out of control. Orobitg, enraged, pulled out a golf club and began bludgeoning Sivak on the head and body.

Sivak’s wife can be heard in the background of a 911 call, screaming that the two men wouldn’t stop fighting. They just won’t stop!” she exclaimed. “They’re fighting with golf clubs, kicking the s— out of each other!” When deputies arrived, Sivak was in distress, with broken ribs and a fractured cheekbone and would require stitches to repair his ear.

His assailant, Orobitg, offered a different version of events. He claimed that Sivak got in his face, shoved him, and spat on him. Orobitg said he only lashed out in self-defense, smacking Sivak’s leg with the club. However, Sivak’s wife and son report that Orobitg spat in Sivak’s face first.

Following this incident, Orobitg was booked at the Lake County Jail on a felony charge of aggravated battery and was released on a $5,000 bond. His attorney was not identified at the time. Sivak was left with lasting injuries and fears that he could have died in the altercation.
