PLANTATION, FL – A seemingly targeted attack at a Best Buy store in Plantation, Florida, left one person dead and four injured on Saturday night, local police have said.
The incident occurred just outside the store on 12301 W. Sunrise Blvd., around 8 p.m., as reported by the Plantation Police Department. Of the victims, two were unintended bystanders who sustained injuries during the shooting. These bystanders are now in stable condition after receiving treatment at nearby hospitals.
Investigators noted that two individuals from a group of four who were leaving the store became the targets of the shooting. The alleged targets of the attack, along with the innocent bystanders, were rushed to area hospitals. Unfortunately, one individual who was critically injured did not survive and died at the hospital. The incident is now being treated as a homicide.
It remains unclear whether the targeted group knew their attackers or what the motivation behind the attack was. The police report late Sunday morning revealed that the suspects are still on the run after fleeing the scene, and the victims are currently uncooperative in the case.
As the shooting took place around the store’s closing hour, the number of people present inside at the time of the incident is unknown. Authorities are calling on the public to aid their investigation, encouraging people with information to contact Broward County Crime Stoppers.
