Baby abandoned at Walmart by shoplifters

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The heartless act of a group of shoplifters who abandoned a 3-month-old girl while fleeing from a Philadelphia Walmart has shocked locals. The suspects seemingly ignored the infant as they raced away to evade apprehension.

According to reports, the strange incident happened around 11 p.m. on Thursday night. Security at the Byberry Road Walmart reported they sought to deter two men and a woman from shoplifting. Instead of complying, the individuals fled from the store. Shockingly, they left behind a baby girl that they brought along with them.

Police said the infant was rushed to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital for a checkup and confirmed that she was in good health. One of her parents, who authorities believe was not involved in the attempted stealing spree, has been contacted. As of Friday afternoon, however, it remained unclear if the suspects were related to the child or what items they attempted to steal.

Police have not yet made any arrests in this case to date. Authorities encourage anyone who has information regarding this incident to get in contact with the Special Victims Unit directly, call the police tip line, or dial 911.

The Department of Human Services and the Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office have yet to respond to requests for comment on the matter.
