A 14-year-old is charged with a double shooting and other violent crimes

MIAMI, FL – A shocking case has unfolded in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood, where authorities have arrested a 14-year-old boy in connection with a deadly double shooting. The young suspect is alleged to have continued firing at one of the victims even after the victim had fallen to the ground, raising alarm in the community.

The shooting claimed the life of 35-year-old Robin Fernandez, a father of three from El Salvador. Another victim, 32-year-old David, was critically injured but is reportedly on the path to recovery. The suspect, identified as Marcellus Williams, faces charges of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.

Williams appeared before a judge at the Miami-Dade Children’s Court, where it was decided he would remain in secure detention. The case has sent shockwaves through the neighborhood, with residents struggling to comprehend how someone so young could be involved in such violent acts.

Investigators have pieced together the events leading to the shooting using video surveillance. The footage reportedly shows the suspect leaving his home, traveling to the scene of the crime, and then returning. Witnesses have stated that the shooter demanded money before opening fire.

In a separate incident, Williams was also arrested for a strong-armed robbery. In this case, he is accused of assaulting an elderly woman to steal her purse, an act committed on a school day when he should have been attending classes. While in police custody for this robbery, homicide detectives questioned him about the Little Haiti shootings.

Authorities have recovered a firearm linked to the crime and have conducted interviews with the suspect in the presence of a guardian. Police suggest that Williams could face life imprisonment if convicted. The investigation remains active, as law enforcement believes the teenager may be tied to other violent crimes in the area.

Police are urging anyone with additional information to come forward, as they suspect there may be more victims connected to this young suspect. Williams is expected to appear in court again next month.
